Good point Wobble. I have been expecting the outright condemnation [and attendant shunning procedures] of faders and those who 'fall away' for a while. It is practiced by many, perhaps based a bit on your congregational culture and area - but it will likely someday become SOP for all Jw's, commanded from the 'throne of Jehovah' no doubt.

My question is, why?
Why eliminate this position, with all the other more significant problems with which they must be dealing? City Overseer is just another term for a local spy who can keep the CO or DO informed as to 'trends' and 'problems'. Why cut this? They don't pay anything for it. And these guys are just hoping for a big wig to wiggle a zipper so he can perform.
Just curious as to why they would bother to do this. Skeptical minds want to know.

since leaving the organization 8 years ago, there have been more significant changes in the actual, physical activities of the organization than occurred in all the 40 plus years i was 'in'.

Bethel closings. Bethel layoffs. Reduction in magazine printings. Exiting Brooklyn. More changes in magazine distribution. Etc, etc. I am sure that those who pay better attention could make a large list of the BIG changes that have occurred in just the past few years.
Do you sense a collapse? Perhaps a splintering? Will the pressure that has come to bear on the organization from a legal perspective, from the INTERNET, from the media coverage of them, somehow begin to crack the dam?
Just curious your thoughts on the matter.

just recently the org has changed the literature distribution to the congregation members.. the changes are:.
1) publishers are to pick-up their mag's weekly in preparation for what they think they will use that week.
2) group conductors shall now distribute the study article of the wt, and the km.. wonder why they have changed this?.
No Kidding? They are really 'distributing' the Watchtower articles now in the same manner as the KM?

as an apostate, i'm currently compiling a list of changed doctrines and "new light" changes over the years.
this is mainly for discussing with witnesses in the future.
i feel if i don't present full truth of their own doctrine, they will knock me down and rightfully say that i did not give full infomation(hypocrites much?).
I hope if I ever need an organ, that someone will let me cannibalize them.

although i was a jw for almost all my life, i have just finished reading the new testament for the first time.
i have been disfellowshipped for over 3 weeks and it has taken me those 3 weeks to get through it all.
i have really enjoyed it and i have learnt a lot.
I too am finished with the New Testament. Though perhaps I use verb slightly differently.
